What a wonderful Christmas 2008 was!!! I was able to take 10 days away from work to concentrate on what really matters. We were able to spend some time with all of Melissa's family member and really enjoyed the time spent with them. Not sure but this may have been the first Christmas since Melissa and I met that we were able to see all of her family. We were also able to have a nice pre-Christmas party with my mom and have "breakfast for dinner". Hadlocks were able to join us and we had a very enjoyable time sharing gifts.

Usually on Christmas Day, we travel to Grandma Ruth's house, but due to a winter storm that forecasters dubbed a "monster", the celebration was postponed until the Saturday after Christmas. This left us with NO PLANS for Christmas, HURRAY!!!!! We stayed home, never even getting dressed playing the new WII for most of the day. We played enough that my shoulder hurt from bowling and Melissa needed to sport a wrist support the next day! Cameron and Bailey had a wonderful time opening gifts and actually being able to use them without being rushed out the door to make our usual Christmas Day visits. Santa brought Cameron a remote control truck and a Spiderman "bop bag". Bailey received her own umbrella, a new doll and a stroller to push her doll around in. She loves all of them but likes to use the stroller as a battering ram to smash her family members. She'll put her doll in and run toward the closest person. After smashing your toes, she'll squeal with delight and repeat over and over and over again.

Cameron lost his first tooth today!!! We were having a nice turkey dinner as a pre-Christmas family celebration. While eating the turkey, he complained of his tooth hurting. Melissa and I assumed he had bitten a piece of bone but looked in his mouth to find a VERY loose bottom front tooth. After wiggling it around for a few minutes, Cameron was able to pull it out all on his own!!! The whole experience was a bit traumatic because he didn't know quite what to expect. He would instantly change from laughs to looks of near terror after the tooth was out and his mouth was slightly bleeding. After some time, any thought of tears gave way to excitement of the Tooth Fairy coming to visit him and leave a dollar. This thought of reward even prompted him to furiously wiggle the tooth next to the one that came out in hopes of dislodging it also!! The second tooth should be coming quickly and I'm sure he'll be excited about it (assuming the tooth fairy finds her way to his pillow). All of the attention being on Cameron made Bailey want to show us her teeth too.

So after 2 years from the start date of opening this blog, I've actually been convinced to share my first post. I finished Fall 2008 semester last evening, so for a few weeks I'll have a bit of extra time on my hands. Cameron and Bailey are getting overly excited for Christmas and their enthusiasm is quite contagious. Cameron has asked Santa for a "bowling game and an extra controller for his V-tech video game". He changed his mind after first wanting a radio controlled truck. He calls it a "truck with a controller and no string". Very good description if you ask me. Melissa is fighting a sinus infection and is planning on visiting a physician Monday morning. Hopefully she'll get some antibiotics that will help her start feeling better. She has been sick with what we thought was just a cold for the past couple of weeks.
